No jargon, no waiting room. Just upload and understand.

Upload the X-Ray

1. Upload the X-Ray

Upload the X-ray files or a clear phone photo of the vet's screen. Add every view in one go; it's still one analysis.

A structured report in plain language: what's visible, possible concerns, severity, and recommended next steps.

What your report looks like

An example report for a dog's hip X-ray. Yours is written from your own pet's images.

Example report

Dog, 2 years · Pelvis, hip-extended view

Worth discussing with your vet

In plain language

Both hip joints are visible. The right ball sits deep in its socket. The left ball sits a little less deeply, which can be an early sign of hip laxity, but the edges of the joint look smooth, with no clear signs of arthritis.

What to ask your vet

  • • Is the difference between the two hips significant at this age?
  • • Would a PennHIP or OFA evaluation be useful?
  • • Should we re-check in 6 to 12 months?

Illustrative example. Every report also covers image quality, possible concerns with how certain they are, and free follow-up questions with Lumi.

More than 2,000 X-rays and scans have been explained on LabLumen and VetLumen.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the AI X-ray analysis?
VetLumen uses advanced AI for informational insights. It's very helpful for understanding common findings, but it's not a diagnosis — always confirm with your veterinarian.
What can I upload?
X-ray images in JPEG or PNG, including a clear phone photo of the vet's screen or printout, or DICOM files from your vet. Add every view your vet took (for example side and top-down) in one upload: it still counts as one analysis and gives the AI more to work with.
Is my pet's data private?
Yes. Uploads are encrypted in transit (HTTPS), processed securely, and automatically deleted after analysis. We never sell your data.
How long does it take?
Most analyses complete in 10–20 seconds.
Can this replace my vet?
No. VetLumen is for understanding and peace of mind — it is not a substitute for a licensed veterinarian. For emergencies, contact your vet immediately.
Is it free?
Yes, to start. A free account includes 2 X-ray analyses, no card required. After that, 3 more X-ray analyses are $8.99.
Can it check my dog's hips before an OFA or PennHIP submission?
It can describe what is visible on a hip-extended (ventrodorsal) view in plain language, such as how well the femoral heads sit in the sockets and any signs of joint remodeling, so you know what to ask your vet. It does not assign an OFA or PennHIP grade; only those registries can.
